San Diego artist and teacher, Drew Bandish currently paints in watercolor and pastel. He enjoys interpreting all manner of subjects: landscapes, portraits, animals, flowers and other objects - from observation, memory and imagination. A lifetime learner himself, Drew appreciates that teaching - demonstrating painting techniques and preparing lessons - has accelerated his own art skill development and enhanced his visual perception and creativity. An award-winning member of the San Diego Watercolor Society, he regularly exhibits at their Showcase Gallery at 2400 Kettner Blvd., San Diego.
Drew attended San Diego State University, where he earned his B.A. in Painting and Printmaking, and his art teaching credential. Since 1987, he has offered art classes in Adult Education and Community College programs. He is a popular demonstrator and workshop teacher to local art associations, as well. He dedicates his art teaching to helping others gain more pleasure, confidence, and skill at drawing and painting their own pictures in all media. He is especially proud of the numerous success stories among his students - several are now regularly winning awards in local shows!
Drew currently teaches Drawing for Pleasure, and Drawing Portraits from Photos at MiraCosta College, San Elijo campus. Consult the Community Services catalog for Spring 2005 class schedules. Additionally, Drew has served as juror for The Pastel Society of San Diego, San Diego Watercolor Society, and The East County Art Association. |
