Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Sue earned a bachelor of fine arts degree at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. For some years she painted and showed her work in the Midwest before moving to San Diego in 1979 with her husband and young children. She has participated in numerous group and solo shows in the San Diego area. She is an active member of the San Diego Watercolor Society and the San Diego Art Institute, where she shows her work and has won awards in their juried monthly shows. Sue and her husband have found time to travel in the past few years, and the lands she has seen have inspired her latest work. She has been especially affected by the people and places of China. Her current body of work is painted in transparent watercolor. She enjoys the directness, spontaneity, pure colors and luminosity of the medium, and feels it helps to express her unique vision. |
